Several Eupholus from New Guinea
The island of New Guinea is the paradise for Eupholus weevils. Eupholus from PNG and West Papua (Irian Jaya) are the most sought-after Eupholus weevils for their beauty and their rarity. You will find on this page some nice Eupholus humeralis from Papua New Guinea and Eupholus bhaskarai from Jayapura. You will also see here some recently described Eupholus like Eupholus lorrainei.
The rarest Eupholus in collection
What are the rarest Eupholus species ? Well, it is hard to give a simple answer. First of all, a rare insect species in collection can be common in the wild but lives in a remote species of New Guinea where nobody can collect them. There are several area in West Papua and PNG which are unexplored today. Among the rarest Eupholus species, we can list Eupholus amaliae or Eupholus hephaistos. Other very rare species are Eupholus schneideri and Eupholus leblanci. And of course, let's not forget Eupholus brossardi which is also very rare in collection.
